I had my Krups espresso machine for a year now which I barely use becuase it makes horrible espresso. I duno if i’m using it wrong but it isnt hot nor does the coffee come out good. I use the stove top to make it and it comes out fine. So my question is, is there a certain time period I should have the machine on before I make my cup and also there is a squiggly line on the dial, that make alot of steam when I turn it on, what is that for? Can anyone help?

My mom tried all those fancy machines and then just wound up using my grandmothers stove-top espresso pot.

My first espresso machine was a Mr Coffee one and boy did was it horrible. I always thought that great espresso comes from a good barista and not just a good espresso machine, but I was totally wrong.
The espresso never came out right and I had trouble getting the milk to steam to a decent temp…not to mention that the wands would never create good froth on the milk.

I don’t recommend to anyone to go out and buy a cheap Mr coffee machine, but rather to save up money at get one that is at least $100.

Does anyone remember this coffee maker back in the 90s. Its a thermal carafe coffee maker. it was 10 cup maker and it will like stay warmer a long time. It was the best coffee maker. The thermal carafe was white. Can anyone help?

Most of the discs that I have tried are very strong, even after brewing the same disc twice. I have tried Maxwell House, and Starbucks brands so far. I like the flavor of Dunkin Donuts coffee if that gives any ideas as to what I am looking for. At this point I am considering just going back to a regular coffee maker and not wasting anymore money on packages of discs I don’t even like.

some coffee makers with special pouches/disks/cartridges for their coffee have reusable alternatives that you can put your own choice of coffee in. unfortunately it doesn’t look like tassimo has that option currently.

And if not what kind of coffee makers do you like that might be under 50$

Take a look @ Chemex. All you have to do is boil water & pour it in. I’ve found it tastes better than any machine I’ve ever tried & it’s very easy to clean.

Hi, I want to buy a good espresso coffee machine (probably italian, saeco, gaggia) and I wonder if there is a specialty store. My searches in internet return many online shops, but not physical stores.
I could go to the big ones(JL and the like), but ,i rather buy from a small retailer.
Any recommendation?

personally, I would go to JL or selfridges ‘cos they’ll prob have a big variety and some stock left! I know upper street, islington has a few cool little kitchenalia shops, you might get a reconditioned one there. Also, around spitalfields market, close to liverpool street, there’s a couple of shops there.
